Merry Christmas, Orvis Style!

A short time ago, we had the opportunity to hang with the product development team for a few days on the Alley. It was a great time of just hanging out and getting a few fish. But in the midst of it all, the new camera made it out and a bit of film got shot to. Hopefully we will see it put to good use soon.

Part of the Steelhead Alley Outfitters boys
greet part of the Orvis crew as they arrive.

Not long after their arrival, everyone scattered and hit the water across the region and many fish were brought to hand. Here are just a couple of shots from the few days together.

Christine poses with her first Steelhead Alley fish.

Jim poses with a beautiful fish during a winter day.

Jim and Tim double up making for good memories

While we were on the water, Tim and I made time to shoot a quick promo video for a new product getting rave reviews around the country. If all goes well, we will see this show up on their website soon as a way of helping clients in their purchase decisions. Check it out...

Orvis Company highlighting their new bootfoot waders.

I hope that in the coming days, you all have a blessed Christmas and a very happy New Year. Best wishes from all of us at Steelhead Alley Outfitters and Flybum Media Productions!

Tight lines and fine shots!

A Short Preseason Flick Arrives

A few weeks ago, we managed to get the camera out again and work on a short promotional piece going into the fall season. It was fun to shoot and edit and the fishing has heated up tremendously since then.

Check out my other blog at http://www.steelheadalleyoutfitters.blogspot.com to see some of the recent fish I have been pulling out with clients.

Here is that flick....

Until next time, tight lines and may all your fish be big!

It's been too long!

Man how time flies by when you aren't really paying that close of attention! Anybody else feel like the year 2010 is gonna be a blip on the radar in the grand scheme of life?

At any rate, a lot of things have been going on in recent weeks and months in my life and that of Flybum Media. As many know, at Flybum Media, we not only enjoy film and video, but we are fly fishing enthusiasts! So, in the last couple months, many trips have been made across the country. I have been blogging extensively over at my other blog located at Steelhead Alley Outfitters and have kind of forgotten that I had another. So, to catch up a bit, I thought I would share some of the recent flicks that we have produced from some of our trips. In the last month or two, I have been able to travel a bit....Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and Haiti. Greg, my cohort in the fly fishing world has been in Wyoming, Montana, and New York. So, we have been busy.

Here are a couple of the recent shorts I have edited down in recent weeks following my western adventures. Enjoy and give me some feedback....

This first flick is a short piece highlighting a short day that we had on the the Henry's Fork in the area of Island Park, Idaho.

This second piece is a short that came about after a day of extreme fly fishing on the Teton River in Idaho. It was some amazing water with scenery that was stellar to say the least. It was awesome to experience and putting the film together was just as fun!

Hoping to get cranked up for this fall....some plans are in the works. With any luck, we will have some good stuff to share with you in the coming days.

Until next time,

New Steelhead Alley Short

Well, as promised, I was able to deliver my very best at the Indiana on the Fly Show held in Indianapolis this past weekend. Now, I understand that might not be saying much, but it was the best I had to give in a very short period of time.

The presentation went very well and was packed out with people attending the conference. I started it out with the new Steelhead short and followed it up with a powerpoint presentation to impress and teach.

Based upon the feedback, it was received very well! I am my own worst critic, but my wife said it was good....and believe me fellows/gals, she doesn't pull punches with me. So, I rest assured that the video came off well and accomplished it's simple point of highlighting our fishery and the excitement that it brings to peoples lives!

For those of you who weren't in attendance, you can watch it below. Oh, and my partner Greg dares you to only watch it once : ) I think he has now watched it like 73 times.....honestly!

At any rate, here it is....I hope you enjoy it at much as I did making it.

Now if I can just get back to the computer to pic
k up where I left off.....hopefully sooner than later. Until then, stay warm and get out and shoot some winter scenes.

Getting Back to the Mac

Finally, I have had some time to play through some of my footage from the fall season. I only wish I had more time to do so.

In less than a week, I will be making a presentation to those willing to listen down at the Indiana On the Fly show in Indianapolis. As a part of this presentation, I wanted to throw a short high energy video of Steelhead in to get things started right. I just finished the piece....nothing special, but is short and sweet.....of course, I am the videographer, editor, etc, etc, etc, so what else would I say about it.

No really, I am excited to be getting back to editing a bit. It feels good to mash the keys and watch the time filming on the water come together to tell a story of what we do. The other exciting thing is that the short is edited to a song written by a good friend who I don't get to hang with much. However, I have been able to hang with them at a couple of shows recently where they have debuted their newest album "The Great American Midrange." If you are a fan of classic rock.....Rolling Stones, Black Crowes, Jimi Hendrix, etc.....then check these guys out...they have played with some big names like Peter Frampton, Dave Matthews, Goo Goo Dolls, etc. Here is a video of one of their new songs entitled "Back to Indiana." It played during the Indianapolis 500 last May on ABC....good tune, but you really need to listen to their album. Their website is www.theelms.net and here is that video....

I will post my new video here after my presentation this weekend....I don't want to show it publicly before the big show down in Indy.

Well, it is about time for me to jump back in the truck to go plow the unbelievable amounts of lake effect snow that is falling. I think we have nearly 2 ft on the ground and it is still coming down hard.

Until next time,
